Samsung launches Android 11-based One UI 3.0 beta program for Galaxy S20 series

  • Samsung has announced a beta program for Android 11-based One UI 3.0.
  • It is currently available only for developers using the Galaxy S20 series phones.
  • Public trials for One UI 3.0 should also commence soon.

Samsung just launched the Galaxy Note 20 phones running the latest One UI 2.5 software. While the company hasn’t announced details about a broader rollout for One UI 2.5, it has opened up a beta program for One UI 3.0 based on Android 11.
One UI 3.0 for the Galaxy S20 series is in a pre-beta phase right now (h/t: XDA-Developers). It is currently only available to developers in the US and South Korea. Samsung says it wants developers to ensure that their apps are compatible with the latest beta software before opening it up to the public. This is why access to the beta program will require approval from Samsung right now, and regular Galaxy S20 users won’t be able to install One UI 3.0 just yet.
When public trials open up, all One UI beta users in China, India, US, UK, Poland, South Korea, and Germany will be able to test out the new software.
Currently, both LTE and 5G variants of the Galaxy S20S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra are eligible for receiving the One UI 3.0 beta update in the US. Samsung has also included both unlocked as well as Sprint/T-Mobile Galaxy S20 models in the trial.
We’ll update this article when Samsung opens up public access to its new Android 11-based software. Until then, you can read all about the best upcoming Android 11 features here. Google is expected to release the final version of Android 11 sometime in September. Meanwhile, many smartphone makers are already offering public beta trials for the software.
